The John Smith's Stadium is a major events hub in Huddersfield - you could end up watching Huddersfield Town in the Championship or a live music concert. For a scenic day out, head to Victoria Tower on Castle Hill, where you can see the town from 900 feet up. Or, you could go for Colne Valley Museum, where you can discover what went on in weavers’ cottages in the 1850s and how it transformed this region.

Restaurants

If you’re eating in Huddersfield you want to be eating at Erics. With a mention in the Michelin Guide, a top 10 spot in the Sunday Times’ guide to Yorkshire and the North East the food here is seriously good. And if Erics isn’t enough, you can also try the chef’s latest venture: Pax Burger, a gourmet burger joint a couple of steps down the street. For a local favourite try Chilli Lounge – just a hop and a skip away from the station.

Hotels

Just two miles from the station you’ll find the Cedar Court Hotel. A 4-star establishment with a gym, heated pool with children’s area, sauna and steam room. They also offer day passes for non-guests. Just 6 minutes from the station you’ll find the Huddersfield Central Lodge, in the centre of town with easy access to just about everything. The Cambridge Hotel is also central – just a short walk from the John Smith’s Stadium.

Shopping

There’s plenty of retail fun to be had in Huddersfield and your first stop should be Kingsgate Shopping Centre in the centre of town. It contains all your high street favourites including TK Maxx, Body Shop and more. If you’re looking for something a little more eclectic then make a beeline for Revival Vintage – a great little independent shop where you might finally find that elusive and original Fair Isle jumper. Another little gem is Huddersfield Market, every Saturday it hosts one of the largest second-hand markets in the North.
