Our Education Season ticket offers a cheaper alternative to our child season ticket for passengers aged 11-15 in full time education that commute to their school or college, making travel to school even cheaper and safer.
For students who are due to turn 16 and still in full time education, these must be purchased prior to their 16th Birthday and the ticket will be valid until the expiry date on the ticket.
For students aged 16 or over, discounts are still available. Please see below for more details.

FAQs
What is the best discount?
The best discount available is off an annual child season. This gives a further 50% off the child price.
The tickets are best purchased ready for September, but are available all year round, so whenever you buy that’s 365 days of travel at a great price. If you are not sure about an annual ticket we do offer term time tickets, however, the discount is much lower at 25% off child prices. These tickets are only available September, December and March and must be renewed each term. What if my child loses their ticket?
For tickets purchased at a TransPennine Express booking office, please visit the ticket office you purchased this at, and they will issue you a duplicate at cost of £10.00.
For tickets purchased online, a duplicate season ticket can be administered at a cost of £10 plus £2.75 for postage and packaging. Please contact education@northernrailway.co.uk.Why does my child need photo identification?
The photo ID for your child will work in conjunction with the ticket that we provide. This will allow us to check that the ticket is valid and being used correctly. You must have a rail network photo ID to be able to travel.
If you already have one then input the number in the online form - this will have 3 letters and 4 numbers (this is not the Smartcard number and cannot be used instead). If you don't have a photo ID please upload a photo on the form and the team will send one out with your ticket. How long will it take to get my ticket?
If purchased at the ticket office, this will be issued instantly.
If purchased online tickets will be issued up to 5 working days from receipt of the order. What if I move home/schools?
