Richmond
Richmond is one of the most picturesque market towns in all of Britain. It has an iconic castle, a sweeping cobbled market place, riverside views and many historic buildings – it’s also ideally placed for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst there is no train station in the town, the closest train station to Richmond is Darlington, 12 miles away. You can catch a bus from Darlington to the centre of Richmond.
Ripon
Ripon is a cathedral city in North Yorkshire. A trip to Ripon is a real cultural treat, whether you’re visiting for a weekend or a little longer. The city has three award winning museums, a Gothic cathedral, racecourse and more. The nearest train station to Ripon is either Harrogate (11 miles), Thirsk (11 miles) or York (27 miles).
